York Maze is an award winning, seasonal, farm-based visitor attraction, close to the city of York. We are looking for a fun-loving, hard-working food lover to lead a team of seasonal (June - November) young recruits to feed all our guests. We are renowned for our super staff, and we try to create a warm fun-filled environment to work in, with lots of social events to bring the best out of the team. You will be working alongside our Catering Manager to help support him in his mission to deliver A-mazing food to every single customer. The ideal candidate would have catering experience and must be a great communicator and team leader.
Supporting the catering operation - Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the catering facilities / directly supervise catering staff day-to-day including all aspects of services and overseeing food preparation.
Managing teams - Supervising teams and working closely with the team to provide efficient service and providing training and coaching as needed.
Ensuring quality - Ensuring a high standard of food quality and presentation, and that HACCP procedures are being met.
Ensuring health and safety - Ensuring that the department is run hygienically, safely, and tidily, and that statutory and company standards of hygiene and health and safety are implemented and maintained.
Recommending improvements - Recommending methods to improve service and maximise income, and implementing these recommendations.
Developing plans - Contributing to the development of strategic and operational plans for the services. Your input will be essential in improving our offer.
Assisting with the day-to-day stock - Deliveries, rotation and ordering.
Assisting with menu compilation - Assisting the Catering Manager with menu compilation for core dining and providing a healthy balance of menu items.
Starting mid-June with the last day on site circa 8 Nov (with accrued holidays/lieu days paid to late Nov). The role is contracted for 8hrs per day (with 30 min break). However, because of the seasonal nature of the work with long days during opening hours, additional hours worked will be paid in lieu or time off in lieu at standard rate. Weekend working during our operating season is expected.
Pro Rata full year 32 days including public holidays. As we are only open for a short period of time, holidays may not be taken during July & August or when we are open at Halloween. September, and November after we close for the season are good times for holidays.
Salary £35k - £45k FTE - Circa £18k - £22k for 21 weeks DOE (25 weeks including 4 weeks accumulated Lieu time) plus benefits.
York Maze is not well served by public transport, access to own transport is essential.
